FAQ

How long does a radon test take?

A radon test is not a complicated process, but it does take time. It can take from a few hours to several months, depending on the purpose of the test. Understanding the usefulness of different types of testing can help you choose the most appropriate method, both financially and especially in terms of time. Explore RadonControl's offerings for measuring Radon in homes and workplaces to take control of the air you breathe.

Are you building a home/workplace?

Recommended: Radon measurements in soil
Minimum time: 5h / 800 m2 soil area
These measurements are recommended for all future buildings to determine the degree of radon prevention to be added to the new construction.

Did you move into a newly constructed building?

Recommended: Radon screening test
Minimum time: 3 months (winter) / 6 months (anytime)
New buildings need time to "settle in", during which time the space is occupied and used (furnished, heated, cooled, ventilated, etc.) Under these conditions, long-term indoor air quality measurements are needed to capture as many indoor habits as possible. Reliable results cannot be obtained overnight. Give yourself time for a lifetime of health.

Do you have an indoor job?

Recommended: Radon screening test
Minimum time: 3 - 6 months
Air quality in workplaces is often very poor. Radon is one of the main carcinogenic pollutants found in workplace buildings. For this reason, Romanian legislation makes it compulsory to measure and reduce this gas in all workplaces in the country that operate on the ground floor, underground or in public buildings. Ask your employer to contact RadonControl for radon screening.

Are you planning to renovate or improve the thermal efficiency of your building?

Recommended: Radon diagnosis
Minimum time: 7 days
The diagnostic contains a set of standardised measurements needed to assess the specific situation and design the appropriate remediation solution, including the following aspects: mapping of the building, identification of radon sources and pathways by measuring radon concentration in the air in the ground, in apparent cracks or around ducts, measurement of radon exhalation flux from surfaces (walls, floor, ground, buried walls), identification of radon transfer pathways and accumulation areas. The expert team of Babes-Bolyai University (through RadonControl) can offer you the full range of services, starting with screening measurements, continuing with investigation measurements and ending with the design and implementation of the remediation solution. Do your children have breathing problems?

Recommended: Radon screening test
Minimum time: 3 - 6 months
Air quality in educational buildings plays a very important role in health, as they are occupied by children 8-12 hours a day. Children are vulnerable to physical, biological, chemical and noise pollutants. Children suffering from lung and respiratory problems such as allergies, asthma or tracheobronchial hyperactivity should be protected from exposure to indoor pollutants. Radon is one of the main carcinogenic pollutants found in buildings. For this reason, Romanian legislation makes it compulsory to measure and reduce this gas in all schools, nurseries, kindergartens, sports clubs, etc. Ask your school to contact RadonControl for radon screening.

Want to know what the radon concentration in your home is today?

Recommended: Continuous radon measurements
Minimum time: 5 days
Continuous radon measurements provide an understanding of the variations over time in the concentration of radon activity in the room being studied. It is extremely important to determine the concentration of radon activity during routine current occupancy of the room. Determination under normal occupancy conditions can prove the anthropogenic determinant and the need/degree of urgency to implement remedial actions.
